High Frequency Stimulation Code
Effective on January 1, 2016, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) approved a transitional pass-through payment for High Frequency Stimulation, HF10™ therapy that is in addition to the established reimbursement for spinal cord stimulation devices. This is under the Medicare hospital outpatient prospective payment system.
The Healthcare Common Procedure Coding System (HCPCS) code for this new device category is C1822 and is part of the 2016 ASC fee schedule. Also, it is being added to the OPPS pass-through list as a pass-through device. This HCPCS code will be assigned to OPPS status indicator “H” (Pass-Through Device Categories).
If applicable, make sure that your documentation reflects High Frequency Stimulation Code.
