Not sure what qualifies as first-class medical coding, or what makes abeo’s coding team and services a game-changer for our clients? There are multitude of reasons we could share with you, but here are the top 10 things you should know about abeo‘s coding service.
abeo data quality control requires random coding audits to be conducted on all coded data to assess new provider documentation and coding accuracy. Audits are performed as needed to assist with issues that occur with coding and documentation inconsistencies.
Staff audits vary from 5-40%+ depending on the coder’s experience. Staff audits are focused on areas where improvement can be made. We provide timely turnarounds but not at the risk of quality coding.
External coding audits provide another set of eyes reviewing our medical coding services. Education is then provided to abeo coders based on all audit findings.
As requested or needed, our coding staff will complete a review and focused audit to investigate any concerns a client or abeo management has. These audits identify individual or focused training needs for facilities or coding staff. A focused audit provides greater audit granularity to identify the scope or specific root cause of the problem.
Our medical coders are continually trained to demonstrate superior levels of expertise in specialty disciplines for surgery centers and anesthesiology practices.
The accuracy and delivery of our coding services by our coding staff is overseen from all directions by various levels and departments of management.
On average, abeo’s coders have eight years of experience as certified professional coders and are all hired directly by abeo.
Coding is a vital part of abeo’s business, and that’s never been truer than today. As a medical coding company, it is our coding staff’s primary function to protect the providers and our company by adhering to regulatory guidelines and putting compliance first.
abeo’s “ICD-10-CM It’s On The Way” training program* was approved by the American Academy of Professional Coders, AAPC. This program was proven to provide valuable continuing education to the AAPC and our internal coding staff received 7 CEUs. abeo regularly updates our staff and clients with the latest ICD-10 changes.
Our billing and coding management works with our legal counsel to deliver the needed expertise in regulations for anesthesia and surgery center specialties. Combining all of abeo’s anesthesia and surgery center services maximizes reimbursement potential and improves cash flow.
abeo is proud of our coding team that provides top-notch anesthesia and surgery center coding services. Their role is vital to the success and compliance of our clients and our company. In the months following this original post, abeo completed our internal training for coders, non-coders and providers for the coming of ICD-10-CM. Clients received a number of resources and overall the transition to ICD-10-CM was a great success for abeo and our clients.
*This program has the prior approval of the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) for 7 continuing education hours. Granting of prior approval in no way constitutes endorsement by the AAPC of the program content or the program sponsor.
