It’s time once again for the much-anticipated anesthesia annual meeting of the year, ANESTHESIOLOGY® 2018. This year the American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) will go in depth on how technology and research are impacting the healthcare and anesthesia landscape. “The Future Starts Here” will be the recurring theme over the course of the conference and the sessions are sure to build on that idea.

Keynote speaker Josh Linker will be discussing how to develop a creative culture that welcomes new and inspired thinking, broaden the scope of what conventional wisdom dictates to see beyond the current norms, and cultivate a way to incorporate creativity in what is usually viewed as a staid anesthesia environment. ANESTHESIOLOGY® 2018 is going to invite it’s 14,000 attendees to not only think outside of the box but envision what the future of anesthesia looks like and how innovative providers can shape that future.

During the anesthesia annual meeting, abeo will focus discussion on payer reimbursement challenges, self-pay protocols, and how healthcare market consolidation is changing the landscape of anesthesia. You can read up on some of these topics now:

  • Payer reimbursement still spearheads practice revenue. Does your billing staff know how to collect it?
Jody Hinton and Ladonna Schaad touch on some of the industry norms one will encounter when managing payers and address three commonly misunderstood aspects of anesthesia coding in the post, Master Three Common Anesthesia Coding Challenges.
  • Does patient payment and satisfaction go hand-in-hand?
Gavin Duckworth explains common patient collection hurdles and proactive steps that can be taken to provide a better patient experience that will positively impact self-pay payments in this post called, A little billing education, a lot of payment satisfaction.
  • What strategies can anesthesiologists take to navigate the anesthesia-specific M&A activity?
Steve Avery recently wrote about anesthesia market consolidation and the importance of understanding where anesthesia-specific merger and acquisition activity stands today, which you can read up on in the post, Don’t Ignore Anesthesia M&A: Understand It and Thrive.
